Local Treasurers

Department Functions/Services:

The County Treasure’s office is located in the Missaukee County Courthouse. The primary goal of the office is to collect delinquent property taxes for the County of Missaukee. Through this office, the money is then invested in various forms to make additional operating capital for the County. The Treasurer's Office does accept partial payments on delinquent taxes in most situations. The deadline for redeeming delinquent taxes is two years. Property is sold at public auction approximately 2.5 years after it becomes delinquent. For more information regarding this procedure, please stop by the office for a copy of the tax sale guidelines.

The Treasurer's Office is also responsible for keeping permanent records of tax rolls, delinquent tax rolls, tax histories for various public agencies, and for banks, mortgage title companies and other interested parties at a nominal cost. 

Other functions include receiving County department deposits and making those deposits to various banks. We also certify that all taxes are current for recording of Warranty Deeds & Land Contracts. Dog licenses are also issued  at the Treasurer's office.

Passports

Forms are available at the County Treasurers office or may be obtained from the Passport services website travel.state.gov. You must bring a certified birth certificate or previous U.S. Passport for proof of citizenship, also required for proof of identity is current unexpired documentation that shows both your signature and photo ID that is issued by a government entity such as a Drivers License, State ID, Military ID or Certificate of Naturalization (temporary or altered documents are not acceptable).

Minors applications under age 16 requires the presence and identification of both parents. 16 & 17 year old applicants requires identification and presence of 1 parent.

Fees: Applicants age 16 and over must remit a fee of $130.00 payable by check or money order to Department of State. The fee for a minor under age 16 would be $100.00 payable by check or money order to Department of State. An additional processing fee of $35.00 payable by cash, check or money order payable to Missaukee County.

Applicants must also submit a passport photo along with the fees and application, and passport photos are available at our office if you prefer for a fee of $10.00. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 231-839-4967 ext. 203.

PARTIAL PAYMENTS
You can always make partial payments in person or by mail.  If you need to make a partial payment by credit card you will need to visit our office, we do not accept credit card payments by phone.


DOG LICENSES

Dog License now are now issued and expire with the date of the animals rabies expiration.  You may still purchase a 1 year license and it will expire on the next years rabies date anniversary.  A 3 year license can be issued when a 3 year vaccination has been recently been administered and will expire on the 3 year rabies anniversary date.

Spayed Neutered 1 yr $5.00
Non Spayed Neutered 1 yr $10.00

Spayed Neutered 3 yr $15.00
Non Spayed Neutered 3 yr $30.00

**Note 3 yr licenses are only issued if the dog's rabies vaccination is valid for the entire duration of the dog license

Late fees apply if the license is not obtained prior to the last day of the month in which the animals license expires.
We are not able to accept credit card or debit card payments for dog licenses.


LAND BANK AUTHORITY AND BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
Information regarding the Missaukee County Land Bank Authority or the Missaukee County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority can be obtained by contacting Missaukee County Treasurer Lori Cox or Missaukee County Administrator Jessica Nielsen.
