Marine/ORV/Snowmobile Safety Enforcement

The Missaukee County Sheriff's Office operates the following Law Enforcement programs for the safety of all Marine, Off-Road Vehicle, and Snowmobile enthusiasts:

Marine Safety Program: This enforcement program runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office receives a grant each year from the Department of Natural Resources to help assist in the cost of 1 full-time and 1 part-time uniformed officer during the marine season. These officers are responsible for the patrol of approximately 3200 acres of waterways in Missaukee County including Lake Missaukee, Crooked Lake, Sapphire Lake, Goose and Long Lakes, Dyer Lake, Reedsburg Dam. These officers respond to calls for assistance and complaints from Central Dispatch.

Off-Road Vehicle Safety Program: This enforcement program runs from Labor Day to the snow season, and then from spring to Memorial Day. The Missaukee County Sheriff's Office receives a grant each year from the Department of Natural Resources that funds this enforcement program 100%. This program employs 1 full-time uniformed officer to patrol off-road vehicle trails and respond to calls for assistance relating to off-road vehicles. Missaukee County has approximately 70 miles of off-road vehicle trails.

Snowmobile Safety Program: This enforcement program runs through the snow and winter season. The Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office receives a grant each year from the Department of Natural Resources to help assist in the cost of 1 full-time uniformed officer during the winter season. This officer patrols snowmobile trails, area lakes and roads on a snowmobile. This officer also responds to calls for assistance and complaints relating to snowmobiles.
