Inspect Projects

For most construction projects, at least two to three building inspections and one to two electrical, mechanical and plumbing are required.  It is the responsibility of the permit applicant to request the following inspections as needed:

FOUNDATION/FOOTING/POST HOLE INSPECTION. (BUILDING ONLY)  This inspection is required after the foundation/rat wall/post hole is dug, forms (if required) are placed and BEFORE any concrete is poured, blocks are laid or posts are set.  Failure to obtain prior approval to pour concrete, set blocks or place posts before a foundation inspection may result in non-approval of inspection, requiring removal of concrete, blocks or posts.

ROUGH-IN INSPECTION.  This inspection is required after all required electrical, mechanical and plumbing, rough-in inspections have been completed and before insulation of walls.  Those construction projects not requiring insulation, such as pole buildings, storage buildings, garages, etc. will not require this building inspection.  Failure to obtain prior approval to insulate walls before the rough-in inspection may result in non-approval of inspection, requiring removal of insulation from the walls.

FINAL INSPECTION.  This inspection is required after all required electrical, mechanical and plumbing inspections have passed final inspection and the building construction project is complete. House numbers must be posted at the site prior to a final building inspection.  A Certificate of Occupancy must be obtained prior to any occupancy of a structure.  See CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.  Issuance of Certificate of Occupancy

TEMPORARY FINAL. This inspection may occur when all required electrical, mechanical and plumbing inspections have passed final inspection and there are very minor building issues to be completed.  House numbers must be posted at the site prior to a temporary final building inspection. A Temporary Certificate of Occupancy must be obtained prior to any occupancy of a structure. Temporary Certificate of Occupancies may be issued for a time period between 30-90 days.  A final building inspection must be completed at the end of the 30-90 days to avoid revocation of Temporary Certificate of Occupancy.  SEE TEMPORARY CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.  Issuance of Certificate of Occupancy
