Department Functions/Services:


The County Treasure’s office is located in the Missaukee County Courthouse. The primary goal of the office is to collect delinquent property taxes for the County of Missaukee. Through this office, the money is then invested in various forms to make additional operating capital for the County. The Treasurer's Office does accept partial payments on delinquent taxes in most situations. The deadline for redeeming delinquent taxes is two years. Property is sold at public auction approximately 2.5 years after it becomes delinquent. For more information regarding this procedure, please stop by the office for a copy of the tax sale guidelines.

The Treasurer's Office is also responsible for keeping permanent records of tax rolls, delinquent tax rolls, tax histories for various public agencies, and for banks, mortgage title companies and other interested parties at a nominal cost. 

Other functions include receiving County department deposits and making those deposits to various banks. We also certify that all taxes are current for recording of Warranty Deeds & Land Contracts. Dog licenses are also issued  at the Treasurer's office.

Passports

Forms are available at the County Treasurers office or may be obtained from the Passport services website travel.state.gov. You must bring a certified birth certificate or previous U.S. Passport for proof of citizenship, also required for proof of identity is current unexpired documentation that shows both your signature and photo ID that is issued by a government entity such as a Drivers License, State ID, Military ID or Certificate of Naturalization (temporary or altered documents are not acceptable).

Minors applicantions under age 16 requires the presence and identification of both parents. 16 & 17 year old applicants requires identification and presence of 1 parent.

Fees: Applicants age 16 and over must remit a fee of $110.00 payable by check or money order to Department of State. The fee for a minor under age 16 would be $80.00 payable by check or money order to Department of State.
An additional processing fee of $25.00 payable by cash, check or money order payable to Missaukee County.

Applicants must also submit a passport photo along with the fees and application, and passport photos are available at our office if you prefer for a fee of $10.00.  If needed, appointments can be made ahead of time to ensure a passport agent is available to accept your application.
